Location: Based Surbiton – covering London and Southeast England
Full time permanent role – hybrid /flexible working
Salary £40K – £55K per annum DOE car allowance
We are currently recruiting for an Estimator on behalf of our client, a well-established, commercial construction company based in Surbiton.
Key Responsibilities: –
• Visiting and surveying all prospective sites, taking photographs, preparing a plan of the roof and taking accurate measurements.
• Take account of all technical and logistical issues and requirements.
• Speaking to clients and accurately recording their specific requirements.
• Taking core samples or removing slates and tiles to establish the roof build up and structure of the roof and taking photographic records.
• Seeking out opportunities to improve your conversion rate and the profitability of the company.
• Preparing costs in line with records
• Sharing project details with team and agreeing strategy
• Preparing proposals, writing reports and specifications based on findings supported with photographic evidence.
• Finalising and submitting completed tenders / quotations and proposals on time, ensuring deadlines are achieved.
• Ensuring that all quotations and tenders are followed up in a timely and appropriate manner and details are recorded and shared with other depts: i.e. sale & marketing depts
• Building long term relationships with clients and potential clients.
• Pricing additional works and variations on live contracts.
• Producing work to a high standard, ensuring that tenders are in line with profit margins and prices of company’s objectives .
• Keeping clear and accurate records at all stages of the pricing process and in accordance with the company’s procedures.
• Updating the company’s database with client details
• Ensuring that all customer communications are of the highest standard and in accordance with company’s vision and values.
• Arrange project launch meetings with contracts department once tender has been secured to discuss management project details and providing ongoing support to the team throughout the process.
Person Specification: –
• Must have roofing estimating experience (flat/pitched/industrial sheeting & cladding)
• Familiar with refurbishment projects on occupied buildings
• Experience working for a contractor is essential
• Able to survey, measure, and assess roof structures
• Writes clear specs, tenders, and cost breakdowns
• Proficient with MS Office (particularly Excel) and professional report writing
• Well-presented, organised, with great attention to detail
• Manages multiple tenders effectively
• Strong communicator and team player
• Must hold a full UK driving licence
• Lives within 1 hour commute from Surbiton
• Willing to travel across London and the Southeast
