We are recruiting on a behalf of an organisation based in Richmond. The purpose of the role is to To lead the HR function and provide a high quality, business focused, flexible, and operational HR service


Key responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership and management of the HR team.
  • Control and manage HR budgets.
  • Support all workforce planning activity with SLT and in conjunction with this ensure staff are fully and appropriately utilised.
  • To ensure that recruitment complies with Safer Recruitment requirements and that all staff have appropriate DBS checks prior to appointment in line with best practise and legislative requirements.
  • Support and coach line managers in the implementation of HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure the HR policy framework is reviewed regularly in light of best practice, legislative changes and business needs and it is supported by clear processes.
  • Provide regular reports on key HR metrics including recruitment, staff turnover and absence levels to the Executive Team and the Governing Body.
  • Provide advice, support, and guidance to college managers on employee issues.
  • Maintain and develop Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual and statutory employment practice.
  • To ensure that staff rewards and benefits are clear, competitive, regularly benchmarked and well managed.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a programme of activities that support employee wellbeing.
  • Manage compliance and completion of all HR administration, including tracking systems.
  • Manage and case work relating to grievance, disciplinary and capability issues and advise managers of legal obligations and best practice.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of and adhere to requirements in terms of training and practice relating to Safeguarding, Health and Safety and promotion of Equality and Diversity.



Person specification

  • Up-to-date knowledge and application of employment law
  • Demonstrable experience in HR with evidence of the aptitude to progress to a management role.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Organisation skills
  • Excellent report writing skills appropriate to a range of audiences
  • Understand the important of confidentiality and data
  • Good attention to detail with great accuracy
  • IT Savvy
  • Level 5 CIPD qualified
