HR Officer

Salary: £40,000 Based in London

We have a new opportunity to work for a leading Law firm that specialises within the public sector, covering charity, health and social and life sciences. Our client is currently recruiting for a HR Officer to join their beautiful offices in Central London. This role covers all aspects of HR including recruitment, inductions, employee relations, absence management, payroll and reporting. The successful candidate will be working with the Head of HR and providing daily guidance to employees whilst managing a range of administrative tasks to support the firm’s objectives. This role is based within the London office, however also involves travelling to multiple sites.

 Person Specification: –

  • Previous experience in a generalist position is desirable – covering all HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations and absence management
  • Previous experience with HR administration/coordination
  • Previous experience recording data and producing reports to senior management
  • Advanced IT skills including mail merge and Excel
  • Solid administrative ability, able to support in a busy environment and often in multiple departments
  • Able to demonstrate leadership in a previous role
  • Knowledge of the recruitment process is desirable
  • Excellent organisational skills

Key responsibilities: –

Provide day to day advice and guidance on employment legislation, best practice, policies, procedures and benefits

Work as part of a team with the HR Manager across two long distance sites and able to deputise for them as necessary


  • Review, shortlist organise and conduct interview in accordance with the Recruitment policy
  • Advertise all vacancies internally through the company’s website
  • Organise and deliver inductions for new employees and set up diary reminders for monthly reviews.
  • Monitor, review and provide specific advice on disciplinary, grievance and equality and diversity matters, acting as an investigating officer and attending disciplinary hearings when necessary
  • Issue performance reviews to staff and ensure all records are logged accurately and kept up to date
  • Liaise with the Head of Finance and produce salary charts and conduct market research for salary reviews
  • Monitor sickness records and conduct absence interviews when necessary, keeping notes and reporting back to the head of HR
  • Prepare budget figures for annual review
  • Administer Graduate Recruitment and Trainee training through shortlisting candidates, conducting interviews and issuing performance and salary reviews
